Meet the Artist

About Allyson Caire

I’m an abstract artist based in Houston, Texas, known for my vibrant mixed media paintings inspired by nature. Working with acrylic, ink and pencil on wood and paper, my layered painting style captures the beauty of organic forms and shifting landscapes found in nature, expressed through color and movement.

My paintings engage in a conversation to tell stories about our connection to nature and the feelings and memories they evoke.

My Path to the Studio

My path to becoming a professional artist wasn’t a straight line. I grew up with a brush in my hand, taking classes at the Glassell School of Art as a child and continuing my art studies until I was 18. But as I entered a high-pressure career in the marketing agency world, my creative side took a back seat for more than a decade.

In 2014, I found my way back to painting by studying under award-winning artist Salli Babbitt, a decision that fundamentally changed my life. What started as a simple after-work art class to release stress quickly reignited a lifelong passion. And by 2016, I knew it was time for a change. I took a leap of faith, left my agency career, and a few months later opened my first studio in Sawyer Yards.

Today, my art is a reflection of my life in Houston: energetic, layered and deeply personal. I balance my time in the studio with my roles as a wife, a mom of two boys, and a public relations freelancer. I’ve always been a creative person—as both a writer and an artist—and I love how my life informs the stories I tell through painting.

Whether I am drawing inspiration from growing up along the Gulf Coast or from my travels with family and friends, my goal is always the same: to create soulful, nature-inspired pieces that capture the restorative feeling of the outdoors and make your house feel like a home.
